There might be several motivating factors for us to function in our passion and a major one is the reward of doing what you love and enjoy. Does anyone do something just to do it? There is usually some form of benefit that is generated. You may get a job in a field of work that you love, and it brings a sense of enjoyment. Or you might work a job just to get paid even though it’s not the dream job. We look for the benefit of the work we put in regardless of whether it’s our passion or not. But when it is our passion, the reward is that much more fulfilling.
Benefits Received When We Put In the Work
What happens when you put in the work for: taking dance lessons, exercising, planting seeds in a garden, etc? You reap a harvest, right?. I think Michael Jackson could be a good example of how he put in the work as a child and earned the King of Pop title in the entertainment industry early in his career. Same goes for any well-known sports athlete, movie star, or music icon. I would like to believe that any person of interest that you admire for their craft is passionate about it. We also can excel at our own craft of fashion, photography, coaching etc. with passion to enjoy the advantages that will occur. What have been some rewards you have received from your work?
Here are a few benefits that I thought of when making the effort to shine at what I love to do.
Goal Accomplished – In the past I had a bad habit of starting a personal project I enjoyed doing and not finishing it. To avoid incomplete work, I set project goals for myself and was determined to press on no matter what. I remember what it felt like when I left work undone and incomplete. I honestly felt like a failure. Now, I feel a sense of success and accomplishment when I meet my goals.
Work is Featured to the World – We all have unique talents and gifts that allow us to create from our own ideas and imagination. As we meet our goals and produce a finished product, the outcome of our vision will come to life. It will be visible for the world to see. That may also require putting in more work to get the exposure needed to be featured on various platforms. Whatever that looks like, other people will get to see it and we will have a finished product ready to inspire, serve, or entertain others.
Blessing Others/Community – This benefit is my favorite. Though my finished work gives me self-achievement, the greatest gain is knowing that it will bless someone else. Whether one person or many people, that project I completed was for them. Maybe someone else has been looking for, waiting on, or needing inspiration in their life and our finished work is something that helps them. Or maybe it will generate some form of joy, peace, or harmony within the community. In the end, others will be blessed, and God will get the glory.
My recent project that I have completed is my second book Mama Knows Best. I have accomplished that goal to cross the finish line. Once all the back-end production is finished, it will be my own work released into the world. The most excellent part is that it will serve others. That brings me double joy!
We all need positive encouragement, motivation, influence, etc to help us and the next person to keep going so that we make it across the finish line. I believe the youth of this generation are in dire need of this too. I’m not satisfied with simply saying I am a mentor and caregiver to them. I desire the reward of knowing that I played a small role in impacting others, especially our youth to be powerful in who they are and what they were created to do and be in this world.
I am excited to communicate Mama Knows Best with you as it is an anticipated reward for me and could be for you. I invite you to join me on a new adventure with Mama Knows Best.
I would love to learn how you made it across the finish line. Comment below.
